Fire Chief Joe Books presented the budget for the Hilton Union Fire Board. There were two items for which there was a major increase. The insurance rose by $2,000 because of a change in companies. As well it was decided that more money had to be put into reserves to establish necessary funds for the future replacement of a truck. Thus $10,000, an increase of $6,000, was budgeted for the Reserve for Equipment. Thus the levy for each municipality rose from $14.850 to $19,700.

Moved by R. Hope Seconded by P. Garside
Resolved to approve the Fire Board budget as presented.

Mayor Hore provided information on the sewage pumps that will be made available to the Fire Department to use when not required for their original purpose.

Councillor Sullivan arrived at this time.

The use of the hall as an emergency shelter was discussed. It is listed in the emergency plan for each municipality as a warming station. Mayor Hore suggested that there should be some agreement on use of the hall. Consideration was also given to the acquisition of a generator for back-up power. Chief Books will inquire to the status of the Legion Hall as a lot of work has been done there. If a facility is used in a declared emergency there is funding available from the Province to offset some of the costs.

The discussion on the landfill agreement was deferred until after the landfill committee which has members from each municipality has an opportunity to meet and disuses the details.

Moved by D. Leask Seconded by W. Stevens
