Council Meeting
December 29th, 2009

The meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m. Present were Mayor Stevens and Councillors Crack, Hope and Marziale. Absent with notice was Councillor Sullivan.

The Waterfront Centre Project summary was reviewed. The FedNor funding has now been received. The Village portion of the project will be approximately $55,000. This amount will contribute to the additional costs that arose during the project such as the change in siding, soundproofing the rental units, addition of eaves troughs, reconfiguration of front entrance, installation of phone and internet throughout building, purchase of computers and equipment, furnishings and blinds.

It was decided to long term this portion with the term to be decided in the new year.

Resolved to long-term finance the Village portion of The Waterfront Centre project.

The Hall Renovation project was reviewed. The Hilton Hall expansion Project has contributed $12,000 towards the projected Village cost of $51,057. In addition the Village can use the Federal Gas Tax grant for a portion of the costs that are deemed to contribute to energy efficiency. The St. Joseph Island Lions Club is also considering a contribution towards the project. Once this work in completed the only work remaining will be for the parking lot.

Resolved to adopt By-law #989 being a by-law to confirm the proceedings of the Council Meeting held December 29th, 2009 and confirm the taking of any action authorized therein and thereby.
